"Jews control Hollywood"

• On December 8, 2004, during the broadcast of Scarborough Country, in a discussion of Mel Gibson's film The Passion of the Christ, Donohue claimed, "Hollywood is controlled by secular Jews who hate Christianity in general and Catholicism in particular. It's not a secret, OK? And I'm not afraid to say it. That's why they hate this movie. It's about Jesus Christ, and it's about truth. It's about the Messiah." This statement was called anti-Semitic by Rabbi Shmuley Boteach on that same show. (1)

Catholic Priest scandal not about Pedophilia

• On October 13, 2005, Donohue appeared on NBC's Today Show. In what was an obvious effort to minimize the impact of the sexual abuse scandal, he asserted that the crisis was "a homosexual scandal, not a pedophilia scandal". (2)

Donohue knows a few good "gook jokes"

• Donohue said on the MSNBC show "Donahue", "Now, what's wrong with a gook joke?" (3). Unusual coming from the head of an organization that claims to fight against discrimination and defamation when it comes to Catholics.
