During the Terri Schiavo debacle, a video was circulated among many Conservative organizations. The video showed us that she supposedly had responded to stimuli, perhaps one of the most famous of these responses is her apparently being able to track a balloon. (1), (2)

Picking and choosing

• In reality, the video of Terri 'responding' to stimuli was cut out of a video that was four hours long. The entire video shows Terri reacting to nothing, the people who made this short video took out the majority of the video and only left in parts that made it appear that she was responding to stimuli and put THAT out on the internet and it even hit networks such as Fox News. Judge George Greer has found that the video in it's entirety shows that Terri Schiavo was in fact in a persistent vegetative state. (3)

Fooling Frist

• This video even fooled then Senate Majority Leader, Bill Frist, who declared "In the video footage, which you can actually see on the Web site today, she certainly seems to respond to visual stimuli." (4)
